PRAY FOR THE CHURCHES

Thanking and praying for the whole of The Borough of Chesterfield

We are Christians Together for (the whole of) Chesterfield. Let us ‘cover’ the whole town’ dividing the range of our thanking and praying for the days of the week

Sunday.   People come to town on Sundays and congregate at the Spire, at Central Methodists, at North Derbyshire New Life (in the Winding Wheel), at Grace Chapel in New Square, at the Salvation Army, at Annunciation, at the Baptists’ but there is weekday activity as well.   

 Monday  Let us pray for the Newbold area: the parish St John’s and its school, St Cuthbert Orthodox in the Eyre Chapel, Dunston chapel, St Andrew’s URC, the small causes of Love World and Apostolic Fellowship in the Club. We include here the parish of Holy Trinity and Christchurch and their school and the Saturday gathering of St Silouan Orthodox

Tuesday. Pray for Brimington and the Whittingtons, Old and New in the north east (SS Barnabas and Bartholemew).  Two CofE parishes, 4 Methodist chapels, the New Life hostel for homeless people in ‘New Brimington’.

Wednesday. The southern side, with the new Rother Churches Together, including ‘Gussies’ SS Augustine, Holy Family RC, Derby Road Methodists and the St Francis Hall in Boythorpe, Redeemer King in Birdholme WMC, Harehill Court, The Umbrella Hub in Burns Close.

Thursday.  The western side, with Walton St Johns and Holymoorside, St Thomas now with St Mark, Storrs Road Methodists, Walton Evangelical, Chesterfield Community Church at the High School on Sundays, Brampton (Congregational) Mission, New Life (AofG) on Chatsworth Road.

Friday.  (out east) The Anglican parish of Staveley, with St John the Baptist and St Columba churches, Edge Ministries,  Staveley, Inkersall and Duckmanton Methodists and the Salvation Army in Wharfe Lane.  Barrow Hill and the fresh initiatives there. The Walking Men memorial and Staveley Town Council.

Saturday. Christians Together for Chesterfield as a whole, and the Borough, with its Town Hall and various departments. Markets on several days. The rallies and walks that happen in the centre, especially on Good Friday and in May.   Church on the Bus and Street Pastors…..
